The Challenge
Regulating Routines
People that suffer from skin conditions often find it difficult to keep track of their skincare and product routines. Frustrations include not knowing what types of ingredients work best, what ingredients should NOT be in use together, and how to understand what types of products for best for the individual.
Solutions Preview
Fleur is a mobile app that helps users better align their facial routines through product discovery and ingredients tracking. Users can analyze monthly progress and discover new products catered to their needs. With Fleur, users can understand how different ingredients affect their skin and how to better regulate the products they use daily.

User Research →
I distributed my survey to 30 people ages from 17-30. My survey focused on regulating facial routines and the frustrations that emit from using adverse products.
Survey Analysis
To better understand key frustrations that were crucial to my understanding of WHY product regulation and tracking are important, I conducted 6 user interviews varying in skincare & product interest.
Here are the 2 main pain points associated with product discovery and regulating facial routines ↓

This brings us to this ↘
How can users track skincare progress and discover different products that work best for them?
User Personas
Let’s meet the two types of users →
Based off the insights from my surveys and user interviews, I created two personas that reflected the types of frustrations from varying levels of skincare fanatics. This helped pinpoint solutions where I could best communicate their needs, and was revisited in the iterative portion of this project.
Integrative discovery →
Solution #1
Keeping in mind the frustrations from users, and specifically my personas, I sought out to provide a way for users to discover new products that are tailored based off their product usage to identify ingredients that individuals may be sensitive to
To expedite this portion of the design process, I developed a user journey flow that showcases the steps a user takes from discovering a new product and adding it into their routine. This helped me work through my workflow when creating low fidelity designs
Most of my brainstorming was done digitally because it is easier for me to visualize my designs clearly. This section of my design process focuses on low fidelity wireframes that will be used in the final high fidelity prototypes
Below includes the three different iterations I made for integrative discovery, with a summary defining my main solution. Emphasizing the change between each design was a strategy that provided clarity to better empathize with specific frustrations that my personas and real people experience
Solution #2
Detailed Analysis →
To combat the frustration of tracking skincare progress and individual analysis, I wanted to figure out the best way to make this process more efficient. Conducting user interviews helped me determine what types of factors and categories I should have to come up with a detailed analysis for each concern
I visualized this by using an affinity map that shows the importance of factors ranked by my interviewees
To visualize the progress and observation analysis, I created wireframes from logging the observation into what those observations translate into. Focusing on the results from my user interviews and personas, I was able to choose the top categories that should be taken into consideration while designing a skincare application.
Below includes my wireframes that demonstrate the iterative approach for displaying the pop-up to log observations and the change between each screen
